ケミカルリサイクルとエネルギー回収の役割

For the plastic resource circulation, recycling plastics back into plastics is not necessarily an only solution. A rational pathway to contribute to realization of a decarbonized society lies in a replacement of fossil resource-dependent flows with waste plastics in a wider carbon cycle of the economy. Therefore, we need a discussion based on quantitative analyses including the roles of chemical recycling methods and energy recovery, separately from the abstract concept whether the recycling loops are inner or outer. Positioning chemical recycling and energy recovery of waste plastics in the industry-wide strategy for decarbonization should be a principle of the plastic resource circulation in Japan.
