Assuming that peoples values on local natural environment is cultivated through everyday human-nature interrelation, the application potentiality of the concept of "environmental values" by Kellert is explored as a measure to identify peoples values on local natural environment. Firstly, the typology and the definition of "environmental values" , which was originally established to classify peoples attitude toward wildlife and its conservation, is revised somewhat in applying to the relationship of humans to surrounding nature. Secondly, considering that surrounding landscape may be a mirror of everyday human-nature interrelation, the method of extracting "environmental values" is proposed, in which surrounding landscapes evaluation obtained using the combination of Photo Projective Method and Laddering Analysis is interpreted as the reflection of values. In order to examine the reasonability of the concept and the method, the pilot survey was carried out in Chiba City. The result indicates that "environmental values" is applicable with some change made ; surrounding landscapes evaluation is effective to extract "environmental values" ; and "environmental values" is influenced by landscape change, especially, in the suburban area where agricultural lands are relatively abandoned and the urban area where land development has expanded.
