Each year during travel season, large number of people visit Oze National Park. The influx of visitors, hiking and walking along the narrow wooden paths gives the park a very crowded atmosphere. Besides the general overcrowding, some visitors participating in the interpreted day trip nature hikes have voiced complaints that it is too difficult to hear the guides voice when theyre separated from the guide, near the back of a large group. Based on these complaints from visitors in Ozegahara, this report describes the factors that contribute to an "ideal" or "model" interpreted nature hike conducted along such narrow wooden paths. Our conclusions have shown that the optimum number of participants on the type of interpreted nature hikes in Ozegahara should be between four and six, ten people in maximum, if necessary. On interpreted nature hikes at Ozegahara with eight participants, a fee of JPY 3,000 per participant could be levied if those tours were well planned and prepared. Such planned hikes could well be considered examples of an "ideal" interpreted day trip nature experience.
