This study revealed the persistence of viewpoints and changes in landscape elements by comparing modern postcards and current landscapes in Naruto designated as a place of scenic beauty. Based on the results, 60 (54.5%) of the 107 viewpoints survived, and there were viewpoints that had disappeared or changed due to the collapse of the park trail or the erosion of the sandy beach. As a result of comparing modern postcards and current photographs at 60 viewpoints, the characteristics of the landscapes were classified into 11 views (A to K). Furthermore, landscape elements and the act of looking out, which are the subject matter of postcards, had disappeared due to the following reasons (A, H, and J were due to shielding by nearby plants and the Onaruto Bridge, C and K were due to erosion of the sandy beach and withering of black pines, and F was due to the development of the plaza). It was suggested that in order to protect Naruto, a place of scenic beauty, it is necessary to take measures such as appropriate planting management, planting black pines, renovating trails and plazas, and preventing erosion of sandy beaches.
