Abstract

This is a part of dissertations on the fundamental studies and technics about park design.
This first report, investigate about the following questions.
What situation does he stablize, when man is in a definited space?
In addition, in that position how large is the space per one user?
Still more this report have some suggestions depended on the development reduced from the above results.
These suggestions are about (1) the sence of sphere in man, (2) the design of utility space of park, (3) park capacity, according to the ratio between whole area to directly utilized area.
The following datas are my conclusion,
(A) Man's safety situation based on charac teristics of ocuupancy.
Here are three principles namely, edge, wall and corner.
(B) Man's scale of possessive space and other principles on the park design.
1). Distance betwcen oneself and others exists a buffer zone about 1.0m.
2). Distance between man to man is 10. 7m.
3). Possessive space per head of user is 115. 0m2 (its radius 6.0m).
4). Possessive space per user-unit is 235.0 m2 (its radius 8.0m.)
5). Ratio of directly utilized space to whole space of park is 48. 7% (÷50.0%).
6). Sensible sphere (;social distance) of man is 4.0m.
7). Calculative basis of necessary dimensions of park per user is net density 100.0 m2 (gross density 200.0 m2).
