It is very important and difficult to take appropriate measures for the cadets' diseases before the sea training, but there are no reports about the cadets' health management. To share that information with the other educational constitutions for seafarers, 177 cadets (157 men and 20 women) who were seniors at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology and had the physical check-up to enter the Sea Training Course in 2006, 2007 and 2008 were reported. 28 cases (26 men and 2 women, proportion was 16%) of diseases were determined. Total number of the allergy related diseases was 13 and the most, which may be reflected of the increase of patients with atopic constitution. The doctor in the Health Service Center of the university interviewed each case and there were no problems during the sea training. Then, number of obese classified by BMI was 27(24 men and 3 women) and number of high-normal blood pressure was 48 (46 men and 2 women). The male diastolic blood pressure was significantly increased from 2006 to 2007. These results indicated the interview with cadets was effective for the health management and life-style related diseases would be more in seafarers, so it is necessary to build the health management on the ships supporting system from lands using the telemedicine.
