In order to use the quay space efficiently, we address various cases of partitioning arrangement in a given quay space operated by multiple units of one-berth, one unit of multiple-berth, and multiple units of medium and small sizes consisted of one or more berths. In this paper, we investigate the impact of partitioning arrangements and rush-hour traffic on quay space utilization. From the computational results, the arrangements operated by one units of large-size and multiple units of medium-size outperform those done by the others, in most cases. However, it is clear that total service times depend on ship arrival pattern, ship service distribution and rush-hour traffic.
