In 2007, the Technical Standard for Port and Harbor Facilities in Japan was revised and established as the calculation method for the requirement of channel radius of curvature in the category 2. However, the validation in many existing channels has been remained later.
The authors studied for channel radius of curvature on above calculation method of category 2 and analyze AIS track data at existing Japanese typical bend approach channel.
Beside, authors studied the channel bent shape and layout of buoys using vessel maneuvering simulation.
