This paper summarizes the process of building damage assessments,which were conducted in the Tottori-ken Seibu earthquake,and identifies the problems encountered in performing building damage assessments through interviews with disaster responders of the local government.The relationship between damage patterns and repair cost is determined from the analysis of cases of Abe-hikona District,Yonago,where was broad damage of detached houses by liquefaction.Finally,effective damage assessment system for detached wooden houses affected by liquefaction is proposed and it should provide information on housing damages in a much more timely fashion.
