The replacement reaction within solid solution-aqueous solution systems is an exchange process of one crystalline phase by another. The replacement is initiated by nucleation at the fluid-solid interface, after the dissolution of the parent phase makes a solution at the interface surpersaturation with respect to a different solid composition.
