A specimen of Anarrhichas orientalis Pallas was caught by he long line on July 16, 1969 frorn Miyako Bay, Japan.In Japan, this species has hitherto been recorded from only the coast of Hokkaido, accordingly, the present record is thought to be the southermmost distribution in Japan.The specimen was 84cm in total length.
