Since the course of graduates of the faculty of pharmacy is diverse, career education to encourage career formation and to build a life plan is important in university education. Furthermore, Kinjo Gakuin University is a women’s university; therefore, career education that is offered at our aforementioned university should be based on issues specific to female including marriage and childbirth. During May 2017, we conducted a questionnaire survey to investigate career awareness and life plans, using 964 female students. Of the 542 students who responded (response rate, 56.2%), 475 (87.6%) answered that thinking about career plans was important, and 310 (57.2%) had already thought about these matters, and 385 (71.1%) wanted to work for their entire lives on the basis of marriage or childbirth. Furthermore, we found that necessary information and problems are different depending on school year. Based on student needs and changes in the social background surrounding pharmacists, it is necessary to career education that considers women’s specific lifestyle such as marriage and childbirth.
