Abstract

All universities must prohibit discriminatory treatment of persons with disabilities according to the Act for Eliminating Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities. Support and reasonable accommodation for students with disabilities are provided as a result of this Act. Still, the introduction and discussion of specific support cases have been limited in pharmaceutical education due to privacy laws. A faculty member who is familiar with reasonable accommodation and its application to pharmaceutical education introduced a valuable case study on providing support to students with hearing disabilities. In this paper, examples of support from Himeji Dokkyo University are introduced, in particular the support of senior-grade student notetaking and the introduction of a speech conversion system, along with the opinions of the faculty members who tried the support and the hearing impaired students who received the support.
