Conveying professionalism in the pharmaceutical sciences poses major challenges not only for academia but also in clinical practice. In 2006, the pharmacy program was extended from 4 to 6 years to ensure high-quality training for pharmacists, keep pace with medical technology advancements, and develop the separation of medical and dispensary practice. In addition, the revised Model Core Curriculum for Pharmacy Education outlines the “basic qualities required of pharmacists” and recommends lifelong learning to hone such qualities and skills continuously. Professionalism should be the driving force behind all the actions of the healthcare provider or pharmacist in the face of ongoing challenges in the medical field. However, how can this professionalism be acquired and conveyed? Maintaining professionalism to keep providing patient-centered medical care amid the social upheavals caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is not easy. However, it is an ongoing commitment that must continue to be fulfilled through education.
