"Psychosomatic Disorder" (PSD) is the term designated to a disease condition in which certain original mechanisms have been modified by psychogenic or emotional stress. In case of asthma, the term PSD is applied when symptoms due to allergy and other mechanisms are modified by psychogenic or emotional stress. If one could understand the somatic differences between non-PSD asthma and PSD asthma, it would be possible to identify PSD upon physical observation of patients and there by contribute to the development of psychosomatic medicine. In possibly psychogenic as well as non-psychogenic asthmatic patients, we examined their BP, increment of heart rate by standing position, microvibration (MV), effect of drugs, acount of eosinophile and basophile levels of serum histamine, plasma PG, serum lgE, and blood serotonin. As the result, PSD asthma, Iower BP, Iower increment of HR higher frequency of MVFtype, shorter effect of triamcinolon acetonide and higher level of serotonine were found.
