Abstract
This paper proposes a new non-task-oriented dialogue system with humor considering utterances polarity. In order to make use of humor effectively in a dialogue system, consideration of the user's situation and selection of suitable kind of humor at a suitable timing are important. To estimate the user's situation as precise as possible, emotional element, the polarity (positive, negative, or neutral), grammatical information and the style of utterance are considered in the proposed system. Then, humor is classified from a viewpoint of psychology to select the appropriate kind of humor. Fundamental knowledge to generate suitable humor at a suitable timing is obtained thorough preliminary experiments. In addition, dictionary to generate humor is enhanced. We implemented a new system and compared it with the conventional one by experiments and the effectiveness of the proposed system has been shown.
