Kansei engineering approach by the use of Semantic Differential method (SD method) has been used for the design of the products or retrieval of a design image suitable for the customer's feeling. But the questionnaire based on the SD method gives person heavy load to answer and has prevented the Kansei engineering approach from the wide use. One of the main aims of this paper is to present a reliable analysis method in order to reduce the load of the questionnaire in the SD method. In this paper, we propose a questionnaire method by the use of the rank data and an analysis method for the questionnaire. And we build design image retrieval systems based on the proposed method. From the analysis of the image retrieval systems, we demonstrated questionnaire survey became short, and determination coefficients became high, compared with SD method.
