Taxonomy and Distribution on the Genera Achaetothorax Hedicke and Metaborborus Vanschuytbroeck (Diptera, Sphaeroceridae) from the Oriental Region

Abstract

A second Oriental species of the genus Achaetothorax HEDICKE is described from Thailand, and A. malayensis PAPP et NORRBOM is recorded from Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh for the first time, and its male is redescribed for the comparison with the new species. The distributional records of Metaborborus orientalis PAPP, M. saliens (DUDA) and M. trichosus NORRBOM et KIM are presented including new localities. Metaborborus schumanni (PAPP) is synonymized with M. saliens (DUDA).
