Abstract
Leukocyte antibodies in maternal sera were investigated with latex particle agglutination.
1) 60 cases from 190 maternal sera showed abnormal titer higher than 1:8. Distribution of leukocyte antibody titers from groups O, A, B and AB maternal sera showed no difference.
2) There was no difference in the frequencies of the detected leukocyte antibodies between the maternal sera from A B O or Rh compatible matings and those from incompatible ones.
3) Leukocyte antibodies in maternal sera with different number of pregnancies showed no significantly different distributions.
4) Mothers possessing high leukocyte antibodies showed higher rate of stillbirths. Relation of leukocyte antibodies with spontaneous abortions in early pregnancy was not observed.
5) A case of leukopenic newborn baby due to feto-maternal immunity was reported, suggesting that the baby's leukocytes were affected by the mother's antibody produced from leukocyte group incompatibility.
