Abstract
Two Shiba-inu diagnosed with atopic dermatitis were administrated by oral 4-O-methyl-glucurono-xylooligosaccharide, MeG-XOS. Both two dogs showed improvement of dermatitis and pruritic behavior after administration of MeG-XOS. In addition, serological IgE tests revealed that positive rates and the titer of allegen-specific IgE were decreased after administration of MeG-XOS. Furthermore, Canine Atopic Dermatitis extent severity index and itching score were also improved in the two dogs. No adverse reactions such as gastrointestinal problems were recognized during the study period. Based on our experiences, it is suggested that MeG-XOS is a functional food useful in dogs with atopic dermatitis.
