A bat survey was carried out July and August 2004, Saruru River, Erimo-cho, southern Hidaka, Hokkaido. Six species of bats were caught in mist nets: Myotis ikonnikovi, Myotis frater, Barbastella leucomelas, Plecotus auritus, Murina leucogaster and Murina ussuriensis. Among six species, five species seemed to breed in this area, as suggested by the capture of lactating or post-lactating females (M. ikonnikovi, M. frater, M. leucogaster and M. ussuriensis) and/or the capture of yearlings (P. auritus , M. leucogaster and M. ussuriensis). The following four species are newly recorded from Hidaka mountains ; B. leucomelas, P. auritus, M. leucogaster and M. ussuriensis.
