The influence of the injection of Cortisone and ACTH on the function of rabbit's reticuloendothelial system was studied by Adler-Reimann's Congo red method.
The injection of Cortisone on rabbit causes the temporal decrease of the new Congo red index, but in 30 or 60 minutes the index shows rapid increase and maintains its highest value for 6 to 48 hours.
In allmost all cases the injection of ACTH on rabbit causes the temporal decrease of the new Congo red index and it soon increases and shows its highest value in 3 to 6 hours, which continues for 48 hours.
The stimulation on the reticuloendothelial system is stronger and continues longer by ACTH than by Cortisone.
