This paper provides a practical report and a proposal for teaching Japanese language learners Wakamono Kotoba expressions, one of the linguistic variations in the Japanese language. Students collected the Wakamono Kotoba expressions mainly through two types of interviews with Japanese university students, one-on-one interviews outside of the class and a group interview in the class. The learners then made a presentation, summarized the collection, and created the Wakamono Kotoba Handbook by themselves. In this paper, I report on the series of Wakamono Kotoba-related lessons. I then propose a better method for teaching Wakamono Kotoba followed by a review of the survey results after the lessons.
