This paper focuses on the current state of Japanese language education among non-Japanese language majors in Chinese universities. A "non-Japanese major" refers to a learner of the language not required to take Japanese as a specialty subject. In comparison with Japanese majors, there have not been many studies on non-Japanese majors. However the topic is getting more attention year by year as it leads to the global spread of Japanese language education and the realization of interdisciplinary learning. In this issue, the author analyzes various types of public data, including the government curriculum guidelines in Mainland China, to grasp the overall picture on the topic, and show future trends.
