Due to the restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the author, as coordinator of a Japanese beginner's class, decided to offer online classes. After he began his online class, the author realized the necessity of a hybrid introductory class for international students at science graduate schools so that they may continue learning Japanese. The author proposed a hybrid Japanese class trial plan that combines face-to-face and online classes, based on the online class practice to be discussed in this paper. However, several problems regarding the hybrid classes need to be considered, such as calculating the class instructor's time, the learner's motivation, and class plan.
