This study examines how to teach sosite to Thai intermediate Japanese learners based on the use in conversational tasks. The result of the data observation revealed that learners tend to overuse sosite, while native speakers tend to be more selective in the use such as in important events. The factors that might have caused the use is possibly due to the language transfer and an insufficient explanation on such influence as well as sosite's function in a specific task. Consequently, it is suggested to explain about the differences between the two languages and urge learners to be conscious of each sentence's role in a conversation.
