Abstract

In regional areas, the need for non-relative business succession, such as executive/employee succession and M&A, is increasing. This paper elaborates the role of external support organizations such as regional financial institutions and public support institutions in non-relative business succession of SMEs from the perspective of managerial capability building of successors thorough case study of non-relative business succession of SMEs in Shimane Prefecture. As a result, support organizations will help successors’ managerial capability building by support for developing communication skills within the company through involvement in management improvement support, providing opportunities to expand successors’ horizons and gain their human networks, promoting collaboration with other support organizations.
