Abstract

The concept of digital transformation (DX) is currently gaining popularity and is said to be effective for creating value and improving operational efficiency. However, many SMEs in Japan are not promoting DX. The study proposed a solution to the bottleneck in the system that connects input and output, and proposed a solution using digital technology. The establishment of a corporate structure for the changes required to implement DX is hindered by the fact that ‘employees are occupied with their daily work’ and ‘there is no one around who is familiar with IT technology’. In conclusion, for SMEs to implement DX, it is necessary to create an environment in which they can learn about IT technology within the company, to have a deep understanding of their own operations and to have an awareness of the need to provide greater value through problem-solving.
