Changes in stress-magnetization properties due to annealing of Co-based amorphous wire were investigated. The magnetostriction constant of a Co-based amorphous wire [(Co0.94Fe0.06)72.5Si12.5B15] changed from negative to positive as a result of annealing at 260°C, which is below the Curie temperature. Peculiar stress-magnetization properties−a magnetization increase with low tensile stress and then a decrease with high tensile stress-appeared as a result of annealing at 220°C and 240°C. This phenomenon can be partly understood as a reflection of the combined influence of positive and negative magnetostriction constants.
