The aim of this article is to clarify the environmental stability and the characteristics of housing supply at the high-density built-up areas in Tokyo-ku area. Through the survey of four typical areas, the followings are clarified. (1) The chang speed of the areas is moderate except that some spots are blighted, and most of the change volumes are small. (2) Though these areas are high-densed, many various housings have been supplied mainly by those who own detached houses and live in these areas. (3) Rapid decrease of the population in recent years is caused by the high-density monotonous and small housing stocks. Especially, in Kamiikebukuro 3-chome area, ovar half of the whole rent houses are one-room and not have separated facilities.
