THIS PAPER IS A CASE STUDY OF THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS AND THE VERTICAL LAND USE MIXTURE ALONG THE MEGURO STREET, TOKYO. THE AUTHORS SURVEY THE ALL SITES AND UNITS ALONG THE STREET AND COMPARE THE HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL LAND USE MIXTURE AMONG DIFFERENT ZONING AREAS. THEY FIND THAT THE PATTERN OF VERTICAL LAND USE MIXTURE OF HIGH RISE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS SHOULD BE DESCRIBED AS A THREE TIERS RATHER THAN THE CONVENTIONAL TWO TIERS FRAMEWORK. THEY ALSO IDENTIFY THAT MANY CURB-CUT HAS BEEN MADE BY THE DEVELOPMENT OF MIXED USE BUILDINGS AND CONCLUDE THAT YOU NEED TO CO-ORDINATE THE PARKING SPACES AND TO REORGANIZE THEIR ACCESS WAYS AND NARROW ROADS IN THE BLOCK VIA SOME LOCAL DETAILED PLANNING.
