THIS PAPER AIMS TO ANALYZE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE DISTRIBUTION OF RETAIL STORES AND THAT OF RAILWAY STATIONS. FIRST, A METHOD FOR CHOOSING RAILWAY STATIONS WHICH ARE EXPECTED TO AFFECT ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF STORES IS PROPOSED. SECOND, A STATISTICAL METHOD FOR TESTING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE DISTRIBUTION OF RETAIL STORES AND THAT OF RAILWAY STATIONS IS SHOWN. THIRD, THIS PROPOSED METHOD IS APPLIED TO RETAIL STORES IN YOKOHAMA. SOME EMPIRICAL FINDINGS ARE SHOWN.
