In this study, we first examine existing conditions of the 'Michi-no-Eki' rest areas by compiling conventional data and conducting a field survey. Secondly, we conduct an questionnaire targeting those who actually use the road and those who use the Michi-no-Eki in the area targeted for the case study. Then we study the responses of these people and their needs for taking rest based on the results. We also conduct Type II quantitative analysis of those who pass through the area, and ask whether these people take a break in the section, and whether they use the Michi-no-eki in the targeted area. Then, we examine the relationship between factors affecting resting at and using the Michi-no-Eki. Lastly, we examine the policy to maintain the station regarding fundamental facilities and service by compiling the data obtained from these studies.
