Abstract
The number of elderly people is increasing rapidly but the supply of rental housing for them is very small in housing market. The government program "Superior Quality Rental Housing for Elderly People (SQRHEP)" started in 1998. To clarify the actual condition and problems of SQRHEP housing, the author had an interview with officers of local governments and housing corporations. This paper shows (i) residents' characteristics, (ii) efficiency and necessity of publicity for SQRHEP housing using PR brochures by local governments, (iii) necessity of Life Support Advisers in SQRHEP housing and the measure against aged residents by local governments, (iv) necessity of reconsideration about subsidy for rent and construction fees.
