Abstract
Recently in Japan, it is necessary to develop new ways to conserve and restore the local natural environment in urban and rural areas. Therefore, development of community charrette techniques to envision a green future is our next challenge. This study specifically investigates "Open Space Seattle 2100", which was a community charrette for producing green future visions. Actually, activities and works related with this charrette are described herein, along with techniques that were used. Furthermore, this report presents discussion of the application of these techniques to Japanese society. Especially, an NPO or university should undertake planning using the support of GIS data.
