Abstract

By rapid urbanization, many Japanese cities went through densifications and lacked their nature. In those cities, it is essential to improve quality of life through creating more open spaces for residents. We thought abandoned agricultural waterways have potential to be implemented as open spaces in some Japanese cities. The goal of this article is to identify the knowledge to be used by environmental activities. In the case of Amagasaki city, we investigated the conditions of agricultural waterways and the process of activities by resident's associations at agricultural waterways. As the result, we determined the important factors to use agricultural waterways are affected by the relationship with remaining agriculture and the possibility of using water.
