The polymorphic transition pressure for potassium chloride, KCl, was determined with very high precision at high temperatures from 500°C to 900°C by using a high temperature cell in which NaCl was used as a pressure medium in a piston-cylinder apparatus. The transition pressure was obtained by observing sharp changes in electrical resistance through the transition.
A linear transition line for KCl, P=19.22-0.00025T, was obtained.
