The Kβ emission and K absorption spectra of chlorine in MnCl2, FeCl2, CoCl2 and NiCl2 have been obtained with a 50 cm bent quartz crystal vacuum spectrograph. The Kβ emission bands are very wide. The shapes of the Kβ emission bands and of the K absorption bands are alike among different chlorides. The first absorption peak shifts to low energy side systematically from MnCl2 to NiCl2. The similarity of the observed spectra seems to suggest that the energy band structures of these chlorides are alike. Discussion is made about the first peak in the K absorption spectra on the basis of the comparison with the Cl− L2,3 absorption spectra.
