Oxidative stress is an important etiology of chronic diseases. The study aims to evaluate the protective effect of argan oil and clove (Syzygium aromaticum) essential oil on oxidative stress induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in wistar rats. The antioxidant content of argan oil and clove essential oil was studied. Rats used for the experiments were randomly divided into six groups; group 1 received distilled water (10 ml/kg b.w), group 2 received clove essential oil (100 mg/kg b.w), group 3 received argan oil (10 ml/kg b.w), group 4 received daily by gavage 1% of H2O2 (10 ml/kg b.w) and distilled water (10 ml/kg b.w), group 5 received H2O2 (10 ml/kg b.w) and clove essential oil (100 mg/kg b.w), and group 6 received H2O2 (10 ml/kg b.w) and argan oil (10 ml/kg b.w). The animals received the interventions for a total of 21 days. Blood samples were withdrawn on day 21 for testing and kidney, liver and brain tissues` samples were prepared on day 21 for histopathology examination. The results showed that argan oil supplemented with clove essential oil is the most protected group against oxidative stress induced by H2O2.
