Abstract
Jerk is derivative of acceleration. The authors have proposed a new measurement method of jerk with a piezoelectric element and shown its effectiveness in the previous report. However sensitivity was not so good. In this paper, a new high sensitive sensor element is designed and manufactured. Both of mechanical and electrical approaches are adopted to obtain high sensitivity. Both of steady state and non-steady state characteristics are investigated. Especially frequency responses of low frequency range, 0.5-200Hz, are investigated in detail. The sensor shows excellent gain and phase characteristics. Resolution of better than 0.05m/s3 is obtained. Possibility of use of jerk as feedback signal is also investigated with computer simulation.
