The needle-like polymer-anticancer capsules of 0.8mm in diameter and 7mm long were prepared by radiation-induced polymerization at -78°C The release ratio from mold of needle capsule differed from kind of polymer and it was higher in hydrophobic carrier polymer than that in hydrophilic carrier polymer. The mechanical strength of needle like capsule was investigated. The needle like capsule consisting of 80% diethylene glycol dimethacrylate (2G) and 20% polyethylene glycol #600 dimethacrylate (14G) composition showed the highest mechanical strength and Young's modulus of this capsule was 2.1×1010 dyne/cm2 even after completely dissolution of MMC included in it. The dissolution of MMC from a needle like capsule was continued over than 60 days. The extraction test was carried out repeatedly at 70°C with distilled water and the resulting the weight of the extracted substances was below 0.1ppm. On the other hand, the biocompatibility of polymer capsule was investigated by implantation subcutaneously in the rats for one year. According to this result, it became clear that the foreign-body reaction and inflammability were very slight.
