Abstract
Artificial kidney with sorbent regeneration of dialysate has been developed to miniaturized dialysis system in our laboratory. We developed a new type of macro-polus activated charcoal for the purpose of removal of creatinine from within dialysate. This material is made of superior coal, its mean diameter ranging 0.55mm, the effective surface area being 1240m2/gr and macro-polus being (less than) 0.645 cc/gr. In present study, in vitro and vivo adsorption of creatinine, Vit. B12 and amino acids including Tyr, Phe, Met, Val, Leu and Isoleu, were tested with this material. It was concluded that the macro-polus activated charcoal was superior in adsorbab ility to conventional charcoal.
