Abstract
In 16 mongel dogs, 2 hour total cardiopulmonary bypasses were carried out with Hollow-fiber oxygenators and bubble oxygenators for evaluation of platelet function and circulatory status. Adequet oxygenation and carbon deoxide elimination were observed with Hollow fiber oxygenators in spite of low ratio of oxygen flow to blood flow.
Plasma free hemoglobin level was low throughout perfusion compared to bubble oxygenators with Hollow fiber oxygenators. Platelet kinetics were elevated during perfusion. It seems to suggest that platelets in active stage are brought back into circulatory blood by detachment or deaggultination.
