Abstract
Sintered hydroxyapatite is known as a new implant material having excellent compatibility with bone and tooth tissues, and has began to be used for artificial bone and tooth root. In this study, sintered hydroxyapatite was designed for percutaneous device, The device and silicone rubber used as a control were percutaneously fixed through the skin of mongrel dogs. The soft tissue reaction around the implants at 2, 4 and 12 weeks was examined.Fibrous connective tissue with thickness of 50-800μm was formed around the hydroxyapatite, and inflammation and infection were not observed. Connective tissue with thickness of 400-1200um were observed around the silicone rubber. It was considered that the sintered hydroxyapatite had excellent compatibility with soft tissue as well as bone and tooth.
