The interactions of the hydrogel with long PEO chains with platelets have been investigated using arterio-venous shunt method between the carotid artery and jugular vein of rabbits. The introduction of the long PEO chains to the materials significantly prevented the thrombocytopenia and the reduction of clot retraction ability induced by the A-V shunt.
