To determine whether myocardial coronary perfusion is impaired by dynamic cardiomyoplasty (DCMP) the assessment of changes of coronary arterial blood flow velocity (CBFV) observed with a Dopplertipped guide wire has been evaluated in chronic model of DCMP. 5 mongrel dogs weighing 10-15kg were used for this study. A posterior myocardial wrap was performed. After several weeks, Doppler guide wire of 0.018 inches diameter was inserted via FA through Judkins catheter into LMT, CBFV was measured with the assistance of FloMap, Cardiometrics following . DCMP on and off. 136%, 118% increases for RVP, PAP, and 35%, 16%, 34% increases for systolic, diastolic and mean AoP were observed with DCMP on. LVP, EF and CO were also increased with DCMP on (23%, 29%, 25% increases) respectively. With DCMP on, the systolic, diastolic peak velocity and time velocity integral were increased from 13.58±2.07 to 27.96±2.94cm/sec, 20.36±2.32 to 29.37±3.99cm/sec and 6.65±0.59 to 9.47±0.59cm, respectively. We thereby concluded that there were no impairment of CBFV rather enhancement were observed with the assisted cardiac cycle.
