Geometrical fault in basic design of hollow fiber type dialyzer

Abstract

Some contrivances are made on hollow fiber type dialyzer in an attempt to increace dialysis performance.
Of these, gadgets in a dialysate compartmente such as construction of baffle(s)or a long dialysate channel are evidenced to present a dangerous problem under particular workingcondition. Flow resistance is higer in a dialysate compartment than in a blood compartment. As a result, ultrafiltration directs from a dialysate compartment to ward a blood compartment.
If there are any broken fibers, nonsterile dialysate directly flows into blood.
