ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURES AND ITS APPLICATION ON SUBWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS IN BANGKOK

Abstract

  This study aims to establish an environmental impact assessment method that offers environmental accounting along with the improvement projects of social infrastructures. The application of this method can contribute to the evaluation of the profitability of improvement projects considering the environmental impact.
  From the results obtained, it was possible to quantify the environmental impact and benefit through the life cycle of the Bangkok subway line, Thailand. Furthermore, it was possible to evaluate the environmental impact of the Bangkok subway improvement project from an economical viewpoint by converting the environmental impact and benefit into monetary terms (by including it in the economic internal rate of return, EIRR).
