For comprehensive water and land management, it is necessary to monitor related items like water level, discharge, water quality and sediment transport although bed-load transport is not generally monitored even in large rivers. For this, we examined the fundamental applicability of a simple evaluation method of bed-load transport which is calculated using observed data for water level, discharge, bathymetory and bed material, and bed-load formula like Ashida-Michiue formula. This method is applied to the calculation of bed-load transport in Edogawa River. General model for 1-D simulation of river-bed evolution is also applied for calibration. The calulated results of bed-load transport obtained by both the models were in acceptable agreements even though the bed fluctuation exceeded 0.5 m. It means the fundamental validity of the present simple method for bed-load transport.
