The impact of urbanization to sea breeze behavior has been one of the emerging topics due to its mitigation effect on urban heat island. This research is focused on the long term change of sea breeze arrival time during 1960s and 2000s by using regular observation records from Japan Meteorological Agency. The study areas are Otemachi and Kumagaya. We tried to analytically separate the synoptic/global scale effect and urban/local scale effect on the sea breeze arrival time as mentioned below.First, the sea breeze arrival time was successfully predicted by using multiple regression in which only the synoptic scale factors were used as explanatory variables. Then, the regressed coefficients were expected to mostly reflect the urban/local effect. By exchanging the regressed coefficients between 1960s and 2010s with the identical synoptic scale input of 1960s or 2010s, or by exchanging the synoptic scale inputs between 1960s and 2010s with the identical regressed coefficients of 1960s or 2010s, it was revealed that the synoptic effect (global warming) accelerated the sea breeze while the urbanization delayed it.
